Sin
We are all born with a “sin” nature, meaning that we do evil things that are against God’s Will. If doing sin was a job, the payment that we receive from doing sin is death.
God requires a payment to be made for our sin, like a debt that you would have at a bank, but the debt being greater than the amount of money you could ever make.
Separation
God created us to live in harmony with Him. In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve sinned. Being our representatives, chose to disobey God. Breaking God’s law requires punishment, and part of the punishment was eternal separation from God.
This is why we all seem to have something missing, even when we have achieved great successes.
Salvation
There is nothing we could do that would be “good enough” to save ourselves(hence the grace aspect). Jesus lived a sinless life, so He did not deserve death like we did, but He chose to die to take our place. 3 days later, He rose from the dead and defeated the power that Sin, and ultimately death has on us.
He freely offers salvation to all who believe in Him.
Sanctification
The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace, through faith, and that once we are saved, we are always saved(you can’t lose it!). The Holy Spirit then comes inside of us and “sanctifies” us. This means that He makes us more like Jesus each and every day.
If you just made a decision to Follow Jesus, this is about to start happening to you!
SO WHAT NOW
Place your Faith in Jesus
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved – Romans 10:9
In order to be saved, we need to “repent” or change our mind about Who Jesus is, and our need for Him. Then, we place our faith in His Death and Resurrection was a sufficient substitute for our death that we deserve.
If this is something that you want to do, say a prayer right now something like this:
Dear God,
I know that my sin has separated me from You, and
the punishment that I deserve for my sin is death. I
put my faith in Jesus, that in His death on the cross,
He took my place. He rose again to defeat the hold of
sin and death in my life, and I now confess that Jesus
is my Lord. Thank You for dying in my place, making a
way out, and for Your endless love and mercy.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
